Under andra världskriget drar nazisterna fram i Ryssland och invånarna i Stalingrad förbereder sig på en kamp för sin stad. Deras bästa vapen är Vassili, som är en skicklig krypskytt. Tyskarna sänder sin bästa prickskytt för att döda Vassili.
